Recognised by the German government as the Digital Hub Security & Defence, BASED provides cross-technology services and resources for start-ups that want to develop and offer solutions for the security and defence sector. The hub takes a holistic approach to the development of European defence capabilities, the technological advancement of the defence industry and the creation of a resilient infrastructure. By integrating security and defence innovations, BASED complements the services offered by the de:hubs in a cross-cutting way.

The Digital Hub Initiative (de:hub) is initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) – it is their belief that supporting startups is key to driving innovation. 25 digital Hubs provide a strong network that stimulates innovation by promoting the exchange of expertise in technology and business. The Digital Hub Initiative creates partnerships by connecting SMEs and corporations with the newest innovators from the science and start-up scene. This is digitization, made in Germany.
