BASED wants to serve as a platform that connects and integrates the resources of the Defence Campus for early-stage defence startups. With test labs, large-scale training areas, advanced production facilities, and technology transfer hubs, the campus creates a unique ecosystem in Erding that seamlessly links research, development, testing, and scaling. As a bridge function between key players, BASED wants to ensure that startups quickly access the right partners, infrastructure, and funding.

The time to act is now
The foundation for the Defence Campus Erding can be laid immediately, with a clear roadmap and the swift launch of pioneering efforts. BASED is ready to support and contribute with it's partners, serving as a bridgehead for the campus vision and supporting the site's development.
[ Step 1 ] Immediate Launch with Initial Partners as a Bridgehead
We propose starting immediately at the former airbase in Erding. Together with our partners, BASED is fully prepared for a cold start, leveraging existing infrastructure to establish an initial foothold for the site’s future development.
[ Step 2 ] Developing the BASED Startup Center as a Living Lab and Testing Ground
In parallel, the actual BASED Startup Center will be planned and built. The early-stage presence in Erding will serve as a living lab, allowing startups to test, refine, and validate requirements - laying the groundwork for the future offerings of the Defence Campus.
